What Children are REALLY Drawn To

October 1, 2015

drawn

As teachers, we spend a lot of time quietly observing the children. We learn what they are drawn to and excited about. Sometimes, it is a person whom the children are drawn to; they rush to greet them and give them a hug, dropping everything they were doing! Why are some people children magnets?

When some teachers walk in it’s like a vibrant burst of energy surging through the room! Still others walk in and they are greeted with a quiet hug or smile from across the room.

All children are drawn to adults whom make them feel special and important. They are drawn to those who respect their dignity and show them respect. Sometimes children are excited by adults who play the role of “fun uncle” or “fun aunt” but it can get tricky later when it’s time to get serious.

How do children react to you? It can be useful in our daily lives to take a personal inventory. Personal development is a lifelong process and we can always learn to be more compassionate and genuine to all those, young and old, we come in contact with. Children seem to have a sense at knowing an adult’s demeanor.

sloganWelcome to Montessori Minds, a portal into the daily life and insight of what it is to live a Montessori life. We are teachers at the Brandon, Riverview, and SouthShore Montessori Schools — more than just a premiere school for young children in the Tampa area, we are an experience that prepares these young children to live the rest of their lives as whole competent beings.
