The Art of Storytelling

April 19, 2016

storytelling

The teachers and I adore being captive audiences for our children.  Not a day goes by when a child doesn’t stop me and ask to share her/his experiences from the weekend, a trip, etc.   I could happily pull up a chair and indulge in their enthusiasm all day. It is priceless to watch their expressions and gestures as they conjure up the words they want to say.

Just as magical is watching the children take in an exhilarating story told by our talented Ms. Rohini!  The children’s eyes widen, their jaws drop, they squeal with delight at her wonderful stories. It’s as if they can’t tear themselves away and they lose track of the outside world. They are enthralled.

Ms. Rohini’s stories stem from her profound personal experiences growing up in the beautiful and remote countryside in India.  She blends imagination with reality, and sprinkles in her own wisdom revealing the richness of life.  Once the story has finished, the children are ready to work and are focused to make their learning a personal, self-motivated act.  Through Ms. Rohini’s stories, children gain a sense of their place in the world…priceless.
