Today we presented lessons on the five senses. They best way to really put focus onto one sense is to mask the others.
So today we teachers were brave. We blindfolded ourselves and sat, unable to see, and felt object from our sensory box. We modeled the lesson by verbally describing what we felt, without looking.
The children then engaged in the lesson independently throughout the day. It was funny to watch the children direct their eyes down toward what they were touching while knowing they wouldn’t be able to see it through a blindfold.
It was a joy to watch the children heighten their senses through an independent lesson and truly get to learn by doing.
