Everyone has pasts. We all have demons. Some of us keep them hidden away in tight restraints in the furthest corners of our minds. Some of us still allow them to manifest in our daily lives. The truth is, that our past makes us who we are. We can remain a prisoner of our past, or we can become a better version of our self because of our past.
We can’t truly heal the world, or begin to make it a better place until we start with ourselves.
I was drawn to Montessori because of its humanitarian cornerstone. Maria Montessori believed that children, and people, are inherently good and that it was our duty to keep that goodness alive and well within the child. She believed in treating all living beings with respect and dignity. She believed in the spirit of the child, and experienced first-hand the healing qualities a child can have. Are we open to allowing the child to help heal our wounds of the past?
