July 5, 2016

Summer is the perfect time to incorporate Montessori principles at home. You can tap into your child’s interests while spending quality time together.

North American Montessori Center shares practical ideas you can use: http://montessoritraining.blogspot.com/2014/07/does-montessori-learning-stop-in-summer.html

Here are just a few suggestions that you can easily incorporate into your summer lifestyle

Math

Play cards, string a necklace or bracelet, make a favorite recipe, go shopping with loose change

Language

Listen to audio books in the car, send postcards when on vacation, make a comic book or graphic novel, sing campfire songs

Practical Life

Garden, pet sit for a neighbor, roast marshmallows and make S’mores, paint a fence

History

Visit local historical landmarks, visit a history museum, make clothing from a favorite time period and dress up, live without electricity for a day or two

Science

Visit the beach or mountains, go on nature walks, visit an aquarium or zoo, go stargazing

Or perhaps try these ideas from a Montessori teacher and parent: http://livingmontessorinow.com/top-10-ways-to-use-montessori-principles-for-summer-learning/
